Turren–Schönbüel Trail

The remote Usseri Alp area, the superbly situated Bärghuis Schönbüel and the sleepy Alpine village of Breitenfeld – all this is enough to provide a unique hike circuit trail experience.

The snowshoe tour begins at Turren mountain station, just a few steps from the Turren stop. Right at the start, the route passes Restaurant Turren. The circuit then heads out onto open slopes, gaining elevation in long, steady stretches. Rocky knolls provide striking accents across the broad expanses.

After a good three kilometres, the route approaches Teiffengrad, although it remains around a hundred metres from the pass. It then continues uphill towards Arnifirst. After a total ascent of around 580 metres, the highest point is reached at just over 2,000 m. A short distance further on, Bärghuis Schönbüel lies directly on the route.

From Schönbüel, the circuit leads back through more open terrain. Near First, the longer descent begins, initially across broad slopes and finally back to the starting point. After around eight kilometres and a good four and a half hours, the snowshoe tour ends back at Turren mountain station.
