Snow crunching underfoot amidst a snowy winter landscape – the range of hills featuring the Napf on the right, a mountain backdrop with the Risetenstock, Schimbrig and Schafmatt on the left. And once you arrive at the First, a welcome Entlebuch-style coffee with schnapps. What more could you ask for?

The circuit starts at the Hasle LU, Heiligkreuz Kirche bus stop (around 20 m). The path climbs over open slopes and passes the Kurhaus Heiligkreuz, immediately by the Wallfahrtskirche Heiligkreuz, which is listed as a cultural property of national significance. After the short ascent the Berghaus First marks the first place to stop; the terrain remains open and wide, with increasingly unobstructed views of the surrounding rounded summits. In places untouched snowfields cover the pastures, so the snowshoes set the rhythm here.

On snowshoes the track continues to the highest point near Farneren, at just over 1,463 m, where the circuit reaches its summit. The return route leads over less‑frequented sections and through open areas; along the way navigation requires attention. Finally the path descends back into the settlement area and returns to Heiligkreuz. The circuit measures about 7 km, gains roughly 380 m of elevation and takes just over three hours.
