01/ Overview
The route
This varied snowshoe tour starts in Trub in the Emmental valley. It leads through snow-covered forests and pastures in the hilly terrain of the Napf region. The winter scenery and the far-reaching views over the Emmental hilltops make for an unforgettable experience.
The snowshoe hike begins almost immediately from the Trub, Ried bus stop. Beyond the few houses of Sandgrabe, the route climbs out of the valley. Open meadows and pastures initially dominate the landscape, interspersed with longer sections through the forest. The ascent is spread evenly over the first half of the roughly eight-kilometre circuit.
Near Altegrat, around the halfway point, the route reaches its highest point at approximately 1,150 m. By this stage, most of the total ascent of around 420 metres has been completed. The route then descends again, alternating between open terrain and forest. Towards the end, it turns back towards the starting point. After just over four hours, the circuit ends at Trub, Ried; the bus stop of the same name is just over 100 m from the finishing point.

What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
Snowshoeing is more fun in the snow! Check local conditions before heading out.
How we check: SLF only publishes its snow maps from November 1. Until then we roughly estimate the snow depth at the lowest and the highest point of the route every day from the nearest SLF measuring stations. Check the situation on site.
