01/ Overview
The route
A steep climb to the quiet heights of the Napf, followed by a route through woodland and across open slopes to Luthern Bad: this snowshoe tour combines around 440 metres of ascent with a long, scenic traverse.
The snowshoe route, marked with pink poles, begins at the Fankhaus, Schulhaus bus stop. From the valley, it initially climbs steeply towards the heights of the Napf. Open slopes alternate with sections of woodland, with the route gaining noticeable elevation towards Höstulle. After a little over two hours, it reaches its highest point near Grüeblihängst at around 1,300 m.
The snowshoe trail then continues along the heights, partly through woodland and partly across open terrain. The Napf summit can be included as a route option, although the main route heads towards Eyflue and Alp Niederänzi. The longer descent begins near Eyflue. The route passes the Wirtschaft Niederenzi before rapidly losing elevation. It descends through the forest to the first houses of Luthern Bad. After just under nine kilometres, the tour ends near the Maria-Heilbronn pilgrimage church at Gasthaus Hirschen; the Dreilindenplatz PostBus stop is just a few steps away.

Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
