01/ Overview
The route
The short and relatively flat hike leads from the gateway to the Swiss National Park in Zernez upstream along the Inn. The border to the Upper Engadine is crossed at the little church of Punt Ota and the bridge of the same name. Pastures and mountain streams, wooded slopes and the diversity of Alpine flora will enrich your hike.
The hike begins in Zernez, just a few steps from the public transport stop of the same name. The settlement is soon left behind. The yellow-waymarked hiking trail climbs gradually through open countryside with meadows and pastures. The steady ascent and long, open stretches characterise this tour of a good two and a half hours.
After around six kilometres, the highest point is reached at 1'724 m. The route then descends gently to Brail. In the village, the trail passes directly by the Reformed church. This heritage-listed place of worship stands on a slope, with its entrance reached via a wooden staircase.
The final section leads out of Brail and onwards to Cinuos-chel. Open meadows and built-up areas alternate once more. Near the destination, the heritage-listed Reformed church of Cinuos-chel stands directly beside the route. Shortly afterwards, the ten-kilometre hike ends at the Cinuos-chel, Suot il Chaunt public transport stop.

Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: SLF only publishes its snow maps from November 1. Until then we roughly estimate the snow depth at the lowest and the highest point of the route every day from the nearest SLF measuring stations. Check the situation on site.
