Nationalpark-Panoramaweg, Stage 6/7

Through beautiful stone pine forests and across wild scree gullies in rugged Val Cluozza on the way to Piz Murtaröl. The views from the ridge of Piz Terza in the east and the crevasses and peaks of the National Park in the south are incredible, and abundant wildlife can be spotted on the steep slopes.

The hike begins at the remote Chamanna Cluozza. There is no public transport stop directly at the starting point; the nearest stop, Laschadura, is around three and a half kilometres away. From the hut, the white-red-white waymarked mountain trail initially climbs through forest and across open slopes. The terrain becomes rockier with increasing altitude. After almost six kilometres, the highest point is reached at around 2'565 m. The summit of Murtaröl lies slightly off the route.

A long descent then defines the remainder of the route. The mountain trail leads back down through meadows and forest, with a total descent of around 1'350 metres to Zernez. At the Bellavista viewpoint, the landscape opens up once more before the trail continues to lose altitude.

Shortly before Zernez, the mountain trail becomes an easier hiking trail. In the old village centre, the route passes Chastè Planta-Wildenberg, a former castle that was later converted into a Baroque palace. After a little over five hours, the hike ends at the Zernez public transport stop.
