01/ Overview
The route
Woodland, open slopes and rocky heights define this geological circuit on Munt la Schera. The long ascent climbs to 2,575 m before the mountain path descends to Buffalora.
In the Ofenpass area, the Munt la Schera Geological Circuit begins at Il Fuorn, around 300 m from the Il Fuorn P6 bus stop. The mountain path initially climbs through woodland before soon emerging onto open slopes. As the altitude increases, the terrain becomes rockier and the mountain’s geological formations take centre stage. The route covers around 850 metres of ascent over just under 14 km, making for a sustained climb.
About halfway along, the route reaches its highest point at 2,575 m near Munt la Schera. The summit itself lies off the path. The mountain path then descends through open, rocky terrain and crosses further sections of woodland. Towards the end, the pastures of Buffalora come into view. After just under five hours, the hike ends at Buffalora P10, only a few steps from the bus stop of the same name.

Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
