Margunet

From the Ofen Pass forests to the high alpine meadows with rich flora and fauna and magnificent views over half of the National Park. The nature trial provides interesting information about the open and hidden secrets of the trail.

The mountain trail begins at the Stabelchod P8 bus stop with a steep ascent. It initially leads through forest, then across open meadows and pastures. The terrain becomes rockier as altitude is gained. After a good hour, the route passes Margunet; at the viewpoint, the vista opens out across the rugged mountain landscape. Shortly afterwards, the hike reaches its highest point near Piz dal Botsch at around 2'330 m.

The trail then turns downhill. The path, marked white-red-white, now descends steadily through rocky sections, open slopes and forest. The descent is longer than the ascent and eventually leads to Il Fuorn. The approximately eight-kilometre route ends there at the Il Fuorn P6 bus stop. The hike takes just under three hours, with around 500 metres of ascent and 600 metres of descent, and requires fitness and sure-footedness.
