01/ Overview
The route
From the rocky terrain of Eigergletscher, the geology trail descends almost continuously to Wengernalp. Audio features on climate change accompany this short mountain hike between rock and alpine pastures.
From Eigergletscher station, just a few steps from the starting point, the route initially passes Restaurant Eigergletscher. In rocky, open terrain, it climbs briefly to the highest point at around 2'350 m. The first section is unmarked, after which the descent continues on a mountain hiking trail.
The geology trail draws attention to signs of climate change in the Jungfrau Region. Along the way, information about the climate is available as audio via an app. The trail quickly loses altitude across stony slopes and reaches Haaregg. Further down, it passes close to Wyssi Flue; between rock and alpine pastures, the terrain gradually becomes greener.
The gradient eases on the final section. A wider hiking trail crosses open pastureland to Wengernalp. Shortly before the destination, Restaurant Wengernalp stands directly beside the route, and Wengernalp station is reached a few steps later.

Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
