Jura Crest Trail, Stage 2/16

After crossing Brugg's old town, the first uphill stretch to the Vier Linden country guesthouse embedded in the Jurapark, and via the forest to the ancient as well as legendary Linner Linde (linden tree). On uphill through shady forests to the Schenkenberg ruins, seen from afar, and on to Staffelegg.

From Brugg railway station, the hike initially leads through the town. At the Schwarzer Turm, Brugg’s oldest building and landmark, the Aare is just a few steps away. The houses are soon left behind. The broad hiking trail climbs into the forest, alternating between shady sections and open meadows.

The route crosses the Bözberg heights to Linn and continues to Linnerberg. Here, woodland and elongated Jura ridges shape the landscape along the trail. With steady ups and downs, around 620 metres of ascent are covered in total; the 17 kilometres take a good four and a half hours.

Towards the end, the trail climbs once more. On a wooded ridge, the hike reaches its highest point at around 750 metres. A gentle descent then leads to Staffelegg. The restaurant stands directly at the top of the pass, with the Staffelegg, Passhöhe bus stop right beside it.
