01/ Overview
The route
In the footsteps of the Romans, the tour leads from Näfels over Kerenzerberg to Mühlehorn. Testimony of the times let hikers' thoughts stray to worlds of a bygone age while at the same time, the Churfirsten mountain range and the deep-blue Lake Walensee are within sight.
From the Näfels-Mollis stop, the hike sets off towards Mollis. Beyond the first houses, the waymarked hiking trail climbs across meadows and repeatedly enters the forest near Beglingen. The long ascent continues up the slopes above the valley floor before open terrain reappears near Filzbach.
Beyond Filzbach, the route climbs once more. Near Hirnibüel, the highest point of the hike lies at around 760 m. The trail then continues through meadows and patches of woodland, with steady ups and downs, to Obstalden. There it passes the church and continues through the small settlements on the hillside.
In the final third, the route descends more noticeably. At Geissegg, it meets the Meerenbach and follows it down the valley. After around 13 kilometres and a good four hours, the final steps lead to Mühlehorn near the Walensee and the destination at the Mühlehorn stop.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: SLF only publishes its snow maps from November 1. Until then we roughly estimate the snow depth at the lowest and the highest point of the route every day from the nearest SLF measuring stations. Check the situation on site.
