01/ Overview
The route
The winter sports destination of Klewenalp-Stockhütte offer a wide range of highlights away from the ski pistes, too: one of these is the romantic winter trail hrough Ängi Valley with a superb view over Lake Lucerne.
The winter hike begins at the Klewenalp station, in the heart of the small settlement on Klewenalp. After just a few minutes, the route passes the Klewenkapelle and emerges onto open alpine pastures. The view soon opens up between the scattered houses. The route sweeps in a broad arc across the open slopes, with only brief uphill sections and a great sense of space all around.
Towards the end, it reaches its highest point at around 1,670 m, close to the Klewenstock. This almost conical mountain, 1,748 m high, dominates Klewenalp and forms the watershed between the Isital with the Choltalbach and the valley of the Lielibach. Its summit lies a good 200 m off the route and therefore remains a striking landmark rather than the hike’s destination. The final section then leads back between the houses of Klewenalp and ends at the station of the same name.

Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
Winter hiking is more fun in the snow! Check local conditions before heading out.
How we check: SLF only publishes its snow maps from November 1. Until then we roughly estimate the snow depth at the lowest and the highest point of the route every day from the nearest SLF measuring stations. Check the situation on site.
