01/ Overview
The route
A short winter hike with sweeping views over Lake Lucerne: from Klewenalp, the route descends across open slopes and through forest to Stockhütte.
The winter hike begins at the Klewenalp cable car station at around 1,590 m. The cable car from Beckenried provides access to the starting point, and shortly afterwards the route passes the Klewen Chapel. It initially climbs gently across open terrain, reaching its highest point at around 1,670 m below the Klewenstock. Panoramic views open up over Lake Lucerne and the mountains of Central Switzerland.
The route then turns downhill. Between the open slopes of Klewenalp and Twäregg, unobstructed views alternate with quieter sections of forest. Over a distance of just under four kilometres, the route descends considerably overall, though there are also a few short uphill stretches. This keeps the route varied well into its final third.
Further down, the forest becomes denser before a few houses reappear near Alpgädeli. A little later, the winter hike of just over an hour ends at the Stockhütte gondola station at around 1,280 m. From here, the gondola descends to Emmetten, where the PostBus provides a connection back to Beckenried.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
