01/ Overview

The route

Beverin Nature Park is a real winter wonderland. High above the Schamsertal, the Libi Circuit takes winter hikers to the foot of Piz Beverin, which gave its name to the nature park.

The winter hike begins in the village of Mathon, near the Mathon, Muntsulej bus stop. The route leaves the houses behind and climbs across open slopes. After the first section, the sledging bar on Schamserberg lies directly on the route. Open expanses and stretches of forest then alternate; the nine-kilometre circuit involves around 480 metres of ascent.

Higher up, the route sweeps in a wide arc to its highest point at just over 2,000 m. Lake Libi lies slightly off the route. From here, the circuit heads back down towards the valley, initially through open terrain and later between woodland and pastures. After just over three hours, the first houses of Mathon come into view. The route finishes back in the village, around 150 metres from the Mathon, Muntsulej bus stop.
