01/ Overview
The route
The Tschappinerrunde – a winter hike on the Heinzenberg in Beverin Nature Park, offering a stunning mountainscape. Undulating gently, this hike leads to the Patrutgsee with wonderful views into the distant Albulatal.
The starting point is Obergmeind on the Heinzenberg, around 700 metres from the nearest stop, Tschappina, Abzw. Bruneir. Pizzeria da Franco is close to the start. From here, the winter hike initially descends across open slopes before entering the forest. After a little over an hour, the circuit reaches its lowest point near Tschappina. The route passes the Reformed church, which stands alone on a hilltop and is listed as a protected monument by the canton.
The circuit then turns uphill again. It continues through forest and across open terrain to Oberurmein, before the longer ascent back to Obergmeind begins. Around 360 metres of elevation are covered in total. Shortly before the finish, the route reaches its highest point at just over 1,800 m; after around three hours, the circuit closes at Pizzeria da Franco.
