01/ Overview
The route
A short cross-country ski trail across gently rolling meadows and towards Tellenmooswald. Minimal elevation differences and a return along the same route define this outing from Escholzmatt.
The trail starts by the Mooshof neighbourhood on the edge of Escholzmatt. Escholzmatt railway station, on the Bern–Luzern line, is just over 300 m away. From the first houses, the route heads out across open, gently rolling countryside. This short trail is groomed for both classic and skating techniques.
It leads via Güntenen and Grossbühl towards Hasenbach and Tellenmooswald. The elevation differences remain slight, with gentle undulations rather than steep climbs setting the rhythm. Shortly before Tellenmoos, the trail reaches its highest point at around 870 m, after which it continues to the turning point without any major descent.
From Tellenmoos, the same trail leads back. Open terrain, the edge of the forest and scattered houses alternate once again. Around Schwandacher, the houses of Escholzmatt draw closer again. After just under four kilometres and around an hour, the cross-country ski outing ends back at Mooshof.

Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
