01/ Overview
The route
The short cross-country ski trail from Wiggen to Marbach follows the Ilfis through open valley terrain and occasional stretches of woodland, climbing gently and prepared for both classic and skating techniques.
From the Wiggen, Egghus PostBus stop, it is only a few steps to Wiggengut, where the almost three-kilometre trail begins. It forms part of the cross-country ski trail network between Marbach, Escholzmatt and Bumbach and is prepared for both classic and skating techniques. Initially, the trail runs through the open valley, parallel to the Ilfis.
At Wittemoos, open terrain alternates with occasional stretches of woodland. The trail climbs only gently, passing the residential area of Rotgut. In the final third, it reaches its highest point at around 840 m before descending slightly towards the Marbach valley floor.
After a little over 40 minutes, the cross-country ski route ends at Camping Sternen in Marbach. For those continuing by PostBus, the nearest stop, Marbach LU, Schufelbühl, is around 400 m away; the trail itself, however, ends directly at the campsite.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
