01/ Overview
The route
This circular cross-country ski trail follows the Schonbach through open meadows around Marbach. The flat opening section is followed by short climbs and gentle descents back to the campsite.
From the Marbach LU, Dorf PostBus stop, it is only a few minutes to the campsite, where the roughly six-kilometre circuit begins. The trail is suitable for both classic and skating techniques and initially winds through the village. It then follows the Schonbach out into the open meadows around Marbach. The first section remains largely flat; via Ey and Neuhusmätteli, the route gradually descends to its lowest point at around 825 m.
By Unterbühl and Erlenmoos, the trail has left the village behind. It sweeps in a broad arc via Geissenmoos and Niederluegen on the way back. Short climbs now alternate with gentle descents as the lost elevation is regained. Near Schufelbühl, the outskirts of Marbach draw closer once more. Shortly before the end, the trail reaches its highest point at around 880 m and completes the circuit at Camping Marbach after just over an hour and a quarter.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
