01/ Overview
The route
Short, challenging loop across the open valley floor near Marbach. Steep climbs and fast descents provide plenty of variety on both the classic and skating trails.
From the Marbach LU, Laui postbus stop, it is just a few minutes to the start of the cross-country ski trail in Bühl. The nearly four-kilometre loop runs across the valley floor and out onto the open terrain near Sagenmösli and Brüggmösli. The trail is far from flat: short, demanding climbs alternate with equally fast descents, requiring a steady rhythm, particularly when skating.
In the middle section, the trail continues to gain elevation via Marchmoos and Hubel. After just over two kilometres, it reaches its highest point at around 970 m. The loop then heads towards Wald, whose houses appear at the edge of the open meadows. The Hohgant brewery lies slightly off the route. From Wald, the trail leads back to the valley floor via Undermoos. The final section descends gently and ends back in Bühl, not far from the Marbach LU, Laui postbus stop.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
