01/ Overview
The route
This short cross-country ski trail links Krummenegg with Wiggen. It leads gently up and down the valley over open meadows, past farmsteads and briefly alongside the Alpbach, and is suitable for both classic and skating techniques.
The cross-country ski trail starts at Krummenegg above Escholzmatt. It is around 500 m from Escholzmatt railway station to the trail access, meaning the route begins a little way from public transport. The highest point, at around 860 m, comes right at the start, after which the trail leads predominantly gently downhill. It is prepared for both classic and skating techniques.
Initially, the trail follows the Alpbach for a short distance before crossing open meadows and pastures. Farmsteads punctuate the broad landscape as the route undulates gently via Gigen and Wangenmatt towards Unterbach. Beyond Schnerlen, the terrain remains open; the trail continues via Oberwiggen to Wiggenfeld.
Over the final few metres, the trail approaches the houses of Wiggen and ends after just over three kilometres at Wiggengut. Around 40 minutes should be allowed for this route. The Wiggen, Egghus bus stop is just over 100 m from the finish.

Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
