01/ Overview
The route
The Lucerne Beer Trail links Ruswil and Wolhusen across gentle hills, passing several inns and sites associated with the region’s beer culture. Along the way, expansive views open up from Pilatus to the Entlebuch.
From the Ruswil, Rottalcenter bus stop, it is only a few minutes to the Gasthaus Rössli, where the Lucerne Beer Trail begins. The Sonderbund was founded in this historic inn. The route then leaves the houses of Ruswil behind and crosses meadows and pastures. Yellow-waymarked hiking trails alternate with shorter unmarked links, while the gentle hills offer views from Pilatus to the Entlebuch.
Around the halfway point, the trail reaches Buholz, with the Restaurant Lamm, followed shortly afterwards by the Landgerichtskapelle. Near Landig, an underground cooler is one of the stops on the Beer Trail. The route then climbs to Schübelberg. At around 700 m, it reaches its highest point before passing the Fire Tower and continuing to the ruins of Äussere Burg.
The descent to Wolhusen now begins. Between meadows and the first houses, the trail quickly loses elevation and passes the Catholic Church of St. Andreas. It continues through the village to the Gasthaus Rössli Wolhusen; the railway station is right beside the destination.

How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
