Luzerner Seeuferweg

The route from Luzern railway station to the Hotel Seeburg leads along the promenade beside the beautiful Vierwaldstättersee (Lake Lucerne). The impressive architecture, lively activity on the stylish quay and captivating views guarantee an enjoyable outing.

From the Luzern Bahnhofquai stop, it is only a few steps to the starting point. The hiking trail leads through the lively centre to the Vierwaldstättersee. At first, the city-centre buildings dominate the scene, while the broad expanse of water repeatedly opens up alongside them. Set slightly back near the lake’s outflow is the Peterskapelle, the oldest church within the former city walls.

Heading east, the route remains almost entirely level and mostly follows the shore. The urban surroundings gradually give way to a more open setting. Green spaces, small groups of trees and views across the lake now characterise the route. By the Verkehrshaus, the destination is already close; the route continues to Seeburg with no significant ascent. After around three kilometres and just under an hour, the walk ends near the Luzern, Hotel Seeburg stop. This short route is therefore ideal for an extended stroll by the water.
