01/ Overview
The route
Moorland, alpine pastures and flysch characterise this long mountain hike from Kemmeribodenbad over Hilferepass to Flühli – with a barefoot section, alpine cheese and a surprising final climb towards the destination.
From the Kemmeriboden bus stop, this roughly six-hour tour begins at Kemmeribodenbad. The mountain path climbs briskly through forest and across open pastures to Oberhachegg. Near Steichöpfli, the route reaches its highest point at around 1,530 m; it then continues through the Entlebuch moorland in a steady succession of ascents and descents.
The Moorland Trail waymarkers lead onwards to fens at various elevations. Along the way are a barefoot section through the moor and Alp Imbrig, where alpine cheese is available. Via Tan and the Bättenalpen, the path crosses the flysch landscape formed from an ancient seabed to Hilferepass. From there, it descends via Schwändi and alongside the Torbach to the Waldemme and Flühli.
After the valley floor, the route climbs steeply once more, gaining around 500 metres in elevation before reaching the destination. This lies at about 1,420 m, away from public transport; the nearest stop, Sörenberg, Mittlere Hirsegg, is around 3 km away.

Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
