Nationalpark-Panoramaweg, Stage 2/7

The route crosses Fuorcla Sesvenna at an altitude of 2,818 m and passes through vast rocky landscapes and past green and blue mountain lakes. As you follow the mountain stream down to the valley, the spectacular Alpine flora and the variety of colours of the boulders will surely catch your eye. The trail leads through pine forests to get to the former mining village of S-charl.

The hike begins at the Sesvenna Hut, far from public transport. The nearest stop is in S-charl, around eight kilometres away. From the hut, the white-red-white waymarked mountain trail climbs through open pastures and increasingly rocky terrain. After just under an hour, the Furkelsee lies directly beside the route.

Shortly afterwards, the trail reaches its highest point at the Fuorcla Sesvenna, at around 2'820 m. The main ascent is now complete. The view sweeps across the barren pass landscape before the long descent into the Lower Engadin begins. The path rapidly loses altitude across open slopes; later, forest replaces the stony high-alpine landscape.

Towards the end, the terrain becomes gentler and S-charl comes into view. After around eleven kilometres and a good four hours, the tour ends in the small hamlet. In total, the route involves approximately 660 metres of ascent and 1'100 metres of descent. The S-charl stop is located directly at the finish.
