01/ Overview
The route
Müstair with St. Johann UNESCO World Heritage Site is your starting point for the leg over Sta. Maria, Valchava through the larch woods bordering the National Park, to Fuldera and Tschierv. And from the highest Ofenpass village over an upwards trail to Lü.
From the Müstair, Clostra Son Jon bus stop, the route leads to the nearby Holy Cross Chapel. This Carolingian sacred building, together with the Benedictine Convent of St John, forms part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The village is soon left behind as the hiking trail climbs gently up the valley through open meadows and small stretches of woodland.
After around five kilometres, the route reaches Sta. Maria Val Müstair. A varied succession of settlements, pastures and woodland follows. From Valchava, the route continues to Fuldera, always on a well-maintained hiking trail and along a long, mostly gentle ascent. Near Tschierv, the route follows the Rom for a short stretch.
The final ascent to Lü demands further stamina. Open slopes characterise this last section before the route reaches its highest point at around 1,910 m shortly before the destination. After a total of 18 kilometres and just over five hours, the hike ends at Lü. The Lü, cumün bus stop is only a few minutes’ walk away.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: SLF only publishes its snow maps from November 1. Until then we roughly estimate the snow depth at the lowest and the highest point of the route every day from the nearest SLF measuring stations. Check the situation on site.
