A long climb leads through the steep Uina Gorge, up beyond the treeline and to the clear mountain lakes of the Schlinig moorland. In some places the path was blasted into the limestone rock wall. Below overhanging rocks and through unlit tunnels the trail follows a former smugglers’ route to Italy.

The starting point is just a few steps from the Sent, Sur En bus stop. The mountain hiking trail leaves the settlement and immediately begins the long ascent. At first it leads through forest, then later across open meadows and pastures. Over 13 kilometres, it gains around 1,250 metres in elevation; the trail climbs almost continuously and therefore requires considerable stamina.

As the elevation increases, the forest recedes, and rocky terrain characterises the upper section of the route. The white-red-white-marked path continues steadily towards Schlinigpass. Shortly afterwards, the hike reaches its highest point at around 2,320 m. From there, the trail descends only gently to Sesvennahütte, the destination after a good four and a half hours. The tour ends high above the valley and far from public transport; the nearest stop in S-charl is around eight kilometres away.
