Via Engiadina, Stage 11/12

The attractive and rather flat hike on the hillside runs through the forest and deep into Val Sinestra, to the legendary haunted hotel of the same name. The valley is known for its mineral springs and abundance of orchids. The three typical Engadine villages of Sent, Vnà and Tschlin tell the story of the Lower Engadine.

From the Sent, Plaz bus stop, the route leads out of the village. The mountain hiking trail, marked in white-red-white, alternates between shady woodland and open meadows. At around 17 kilometres with 700 metres of ascent, the hike requires stamina, but the terrain remains technically straightforward. After a long initial section, the route reaches Val Sinestra.

From there, it continues across wooded slopes and open pastures to Vnà. Pension Arina lies directly on the route. The Bügl Pitschen fountain is also located in the village, right beside the trail. Beyond Vnà, the mountain trail climbs once more, reaching the highest point of the hike near Piz Arina at around 1,800 metres.

Woodland sections and open slopes then lead down to Tschlin. A final stretch through the village ends near the Tschlin, cumün bus stop. A little over four and a half hours should be allowed for the entire route.
