01/ Overview
The route
The Innweg links Scuol and Sur En. Surrounded by an impressive mountain panorama, the route takes you past Engadine meadows before crossing to the other bank of the river and plunging into the forest. Your constant companion, thundering down from the mountains, is the mighty Inn river.
The hike begins at the Scuol, Serras bus stop, almost at the highest point of the route. At around 1,200 m, the waymarked hiking trail gets under way. There are no major climbs: over six kilometres, the route gradually loses just over 100 metres in elevation. Open meadows and pastures characterise the first section, giving this short tour a peaceful, rural feel.
Further on, open stretches alternate with forest. The trail remains easy to follow and continues downhill without any significant counter-climbs. Towards the end, the settlement of Sur En signals that the destination is near. The route passes a drinking-water fountain before ending after just over an hour at Scuol, Sur En. The Sent, Sur En Camping bus stop is right by the endpoint. This makes the hike a manageable link between two easily accessible points, with a gentle descent rather than strenuous elevation gain.
