01/ Overview

The route

The easy high-altitude hike on the sunny side of the Lower Engadine runs through the ski area above Scuol. You reach the picturesque village of Sent on narrow trails, crossing numerous mountain streams. The views of the Lower Engadine Dolomites and the Clozza Gorge are superb.

It is only a few steps from the Prui stop to the starting point at Prümaran Prui. The mountain trail traverses open slopes towards Motta Naluns. Beyond the mountain restaurant, it continues to climb, reaching the highest point at around 2,190 m near Mot da Ri after roughly three kilometres. This early high point therefore comes within the first quarter of the 13-kilometre route.

The hike then continues in a long series of ascents and descents across meadows and alpine pastures. Open terrain characterises almost the entire route. The route remains on the mountain trail as far as Restorant da muntogna Vastur, where the considerably longer descent begins.

Over the final kilometres, the trail steadily loses elevation and approaches the houses of Sent. Drinking water is available in Stron, shortly after which the route leads through the village to the destination at the Sent, Plaz stop.

03/ Conditions

Current conditions

What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.

  • How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.

  • How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.

  • How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
