Niederhorn-Panoramaweg

Impressive panoramic hike facing the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau peaks. It leads over the Güggisgrat ridge with spectacular views of the Justistal valley deep below and continues on the partly exposed path up to the Gemmenalphorn. Then over hill and dale downhill towards Chüematte, and in the last section over alpine pastures to Waldegg.

The approximately eleven-kilometre route starts directly by the stop and the Niederhorn mountain restaurant. The mountain trail, marked white-red-white, climbs across open slopes to the Güggisgrat. After the initial ascent, the route reaches its highest point at Burgfeldstand, at around 2,060 m. The ridge remains the defining feature: it continues in a steady succession of ups and downs to the Gemmenalphorn, passing rocky sections and broad mountain pastures.

The route is predominantly downhill from here. The hike loses around 1,100 metres in elevation overall, while the open ridge gradually recedes and the trail enters the forest. Only towards the end does the terrain become gentler, with the narrow mountain trail giving way to a broader hiking trail. Waldegg is almost reached at Restaurant Regina. After a little over three and a half hours, the route ends near the Beatenberg, Waldegg stop.
