01/ Overview
The route
On the Ristis – Rigidalalp – Brunnihütte Panorama Trail you can enjoy a wonderful winter walk on Engelberg’s sunny side with delightful views of the Titlis and the Hahnen.
The winter hike begins at around 1,600 m at Ristis mountain station, just a few steps from the Brunni cableways stop. The route climbs through open terrain, gaining around 260 metres in elevation over the first three kilometres. Brunnihütte SAC, a Swiss Alpine Club mountain hut, stands by the Härzlisee. At 1,860 m, near the Rigidalstock, this is also the highest point of the circuit.
After about an hour, the return route to Ristis begins. At first, the surroundings remain open, then the route enters the forest and steadily loses elevation. The six-kilometre circuit involves a total of around 280 metres of ascent and descent. After just over two hours, Ristis mountain station comes back into view, where the circuit ends a few steps from the Brunni cableways’ Ristis stop.
