01/ Overview
The route
The round trail begins on Schynige Platte and first leads to the Daube vantage point. It then continues on a secured ridge around the Oberberghorn, past marmot colonies and thousands of Alpine flowers to the Louchernhorn and back to the starting point.
The ascent begins at the Schynige Platte stop and crosses open meadows. The mountain trail, marked white-red-white, soon enters rockier terrain. The distinctive limestone tower of the Gumihorn rises nearby. After just over one kilometre, the route reaches its highest point at Daube. The viewpoint lies at just under 2,100 m and offers sweeping views of the surrounding peaks.
The route then sweeps in a broad arc along the ridge. Open pastures dominate the landscape, interspersed with rocky sections that lend it an alpine character. The mountain trail remains the defining feature throughout and requires sure-footedness. Towards the end, the route gradually loses elevation and leads back to Schynige Platte. After around six kilometres and just under two hours, the circuit ends back at the stop.
