The route
La Part-Dieu snowshoe trail offers an easy walk with historical interest. The route takes you around the perimeter walls of this ancient and imposing Carthusian monastery of La Part-Dieu, founded in the Middle Ages.
The short snowshoe circuit begins at the Buvette de La Chia, away from public transport. The nearest stop, Le Pâquier-Montbarry, village, is just over 2 km away. From here, the route initially crosses open terrain, gaining height gradually.
Later, the circuit leads through forest and reaches its highest point near Les Alpettes at around 1'050 m. It then descends back to the Buvette de La Chia. Just under an hour should be allowed for the 2 km circuit, which involves around 100 metres of ascent.
