Parcours des Prés-d'Albeuve

From the starting point at Les Sciernes d’Albeuve as far as the Prés d’Albeuve, enjoy the spectacular view of the circle of peaks from the Dent de Lys to the tops of the Vanil. Savour the charm and tranquillity of the region, where you might discover one of the bridges covered with timber shingles so typical of Intyamon or, if you are lucky, a wild animal in search of some dried grass.

The snowshoe tour starts in Les Sciernes-d’Albeuve, around 400 m from Les Sciernes, gare railway station. After a short descent, the circuit passes the Auberge des Préalpes and leaves the houses behind. The long ascent begins across open meadows, with sections of woodland punctuating the route and alternating with open slopes.

In the middle section, the snowshoe route continues uphill. After a little over four kilometres, it reaches its highest point at Grosse Côte, at around 1,250 m. By then, most of the approximately 400 metres of ascent have been completed. The route then descends again through woodland and across open terrain. After around seven kilometres and just over three hours, the circuit ends back in Les Sciernes-d’Albeuve; from there, it is another 400 m or so to the railway station.
