01/ Overview
The route
Running either side of the railway, with views over the hamlet of Allières and the mountain pastures of Le Revers, this is a pleasant route in the pure air.
The short snowshoe circuit starts in L’Ange, at the Allières, gare stop. From the starting point, the route immediately climbs into open terrain. Crossing meadows, it gains almost all the circuit’s elevation within the first kilometre. Near Les Coursis, it reaches its highest point at around 1,150 m, where the ascent eases.
The route then loops back in a wide arc across the open slopes. Rather than distinctive intermediate landmarks, this tranquil section of the circuit is characterised by meadows and gentle undulations. In the final third, the route descends more noticeably and reaches its lowest point shortly before Allières.
One final short climb leads to the Restaurant Croix de Fer, which stands directly on the route. A few steps later, after around three kilometres and just over an hour and a half, the circuit closes back at Allières, L’Ange and the nearby stop.
