01/ Overview
The route
When the Monts-Chevreuils ski area closed, the runs became fantastic winter trails. The Monts-Chevreuils hut at the top welcomes snowshoers for a well-deserved rest.
From the Les Moulins, village bus stop, it is only a few minutes to the starting point in Les Moulins. Leaving the houses behind, the snowshoe route climbs steeply across open terrain. Around 760 metres of ascent are covered in the first three kilometres, making for a sustained climb.
About halfway along, the route reaches its highest point at 1'657 m. The summit of Monts Chevreuils is not on the route but lies around 360 m away. Open terrain continues to dominate the landscape before the return leg begins.
The route now descends just as steeply over a short distance. After a total of around six kilometres and just over five hours, the circuit closes back in Les Moulins. From the finish, it is around 220 m to the Les Moulins, village bus stop.
