01/ Overview

The route

This trail links the village of La Lécherette to the Monts-Chevreuils hut, a spectacular route with stunning views of Lake Hongrin and the Pays-d’Enhaut valley.

The starting point of the snowshoe tour is just a few steps from the «La Lécherette, village» bus stop. Beyond the houses of La Lécherette, the route emerges into open terrain and climbs steadily across meadows and pastures. Around 400 metres of elevation are gained over the first almost four kilometres, with the ascent ending at Monts Chevreuils.

At 1,749 m, the route reaches its highest point there, close to the summit. It then descends again towards La Lécherette, remaining in open terrain for some distance. Several more short counter-climbs are spread over the following kilometres before the descent becomes more pronounced and the first houses reappear. After around nine kilometres and just over four and a half hours, the snowshoe circuit ends back at its starting point in La Lécherette; the bus stop is around 100 metres away.

03/ Conditions

Current conditions

What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.

  • How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.

  • How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.

  • Snowshoeing is more fun in the snow! Check local conditions before heading out.

How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
