01/ Overview
The route
After the start at La Comballaz, the route winds uphill through the lovely forest to Oudiou. Once at the top, the pleasant snowshoe round tour rewards the hikers with magnificent long-distance views towards the Mont Blanc and across to the nearby Ormonts valley.
From the La Comballaz, Les Voëttes bus stop, the circular snowshoe route begins with a short descent before starting to climb. Alternating between woodland and open terrain, it gains a total of around 380 metres in elevation. As the route climbs, the Pic Chaussy remains the prominent landmark.
About halfway round, the route reaches its highest point at just under 1,700 m, near the Pic Chaussy. It then heads back downhill, once again alternating between woodland and open slopes, and completes the loop back to La Comballaz. After around six kilometres and a little over three hours, the snowshoe tour ends back at the Les Voëttes bus stop.
