01/ Overview
The route
This lofty sport route is primarily ideal for nature lovers, offering stunning views of Lake Geneva and the surrounding peaks.
From the Leysin, American School bus stop, it is only a few minutes to the starting point at Carrière Chamois. The five-kilometre snowshoe circuit begins there, initially climbing across open terrain. As the route gains height, exposed slopes alternate with sections of forest; with 360 metres of ascent to the top, the climb is clearly the defining feature of the tour.
After around an hour and a half, the route reaches its highest point at Solacyre, at just over 1,800 m. It passes close to Restaurant Solacyre before turning downhill. La Riondaz lies away from the circuit.
On the descent, the snowshoe trail enters the forest once more and, towards the end, reaches Chalet-Restaurant de Prafandaz directly on the route. From there, it returns to Carrière Chamois above Leysin.

How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
Snowshoeing is more fun in the snow! Check local conditions before heading out.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
