01/ Overview
The route
The Archette snowshoe trail is a circular route starting at the village of St-Cergue, taking you through snowy forests, with fantastic views of the Alps and Lake Geneva.
The snowshoe trail begins in the centre of Saint-Cergue, a few steps from the Au Vieux Chateau restaurant. The nearest railway station, St-Cergue, gare, is around 400 m from the starting point. From the village, the route heads out into open terrain, steadily gaining height.
In the middle section, open areas alternate with stretches of woodland. Around 200 metres of elevation gain must be tackled in total. After just over three kilometres, the trail reaches its highest point near La Barillette at around 1,200 m. It then descends again, initially through the forest and, towards the end, past the first houses of Les Cheseaux.
After around five kilometres and just over two hours, the snowshoe tour ends in St-Cergue, Les Cheseaux. The St-Cergue Les Cheseaux stop is only a few steps from the end of the route.
