01/ Overview
The route
This snowshoe trail between the Col de la Givrine and La Cure, a small village on the border with France, takes you through a tranquil landscape of pastures and forests with spectacular views of the Alpine mountain range.
The snowshoe trail starts directly by La Givrine railway station. Leaving the Restaurant de la Givrine behind right at the outset, the route then leads out of the village. It initially climbs gently across open ground before becoming steeper. Open pastures alternate with stretches of woodland; the nearly seven-kilometre route involves around 220 metres of ascent.
After just over three kilometres, the highest point is reached near Le Noirmont at around 1'390 m. From here, the route descends mainly through woodland and open terrain. The first houses begin to appear again in the final third. The trail passes directly by Chez Mamac and reaches La Cure shortly afterwards.
After around two and three-quarter hours and a total descent of approximately 280 metres, the snowshoe tour ends directly by La Cure railway station.
