Parcours du Chasseron

An exceptional snowshoe trail, with many points to stop and refuel, taking you to the Chasseron, one of the highest peaks in the Jura, and its unique alpine vista of more than 250km of the Alpine chain.

The snowshoe tour, which takes around five hours, begins at the Les Rasses, village bus stop. The route initially climbs out of the village, alternating between open Jura uplands and stretches of forest. Via Petites Roches, it ascends steadily to the Hôtel du Chasseron, which stands directly on the route shortly before the summit. The eleven-kilometre trail involves around 520 metres of ascent.

A little later, the highest point is reached at the Chasseron, at around 1,600 m. The summit lies in the Vaud Jura, approximately ten kilometres north-west of Yverdon-les-Bains. Its immediate surroundings are characterised by rocky sections, after which the circuit descends once more into extensive open terrain.

Farther down, the route alternates between pastures and forest. Houses reappear at Les Cluds, where the route passes close to the Café-Restaurant des Cluds. Towards the end, it passes the Restaurant Les Planets and, between the houses of Les Rasses, returns to the starting point at the bus stop.
