01/ Overview
The route
At the foot of the legendary family resort of Leysin, the cross-country ski trail in the lower part of the village is an ideal chance to exercise, enjoy the sunshine and relax and recharge in a stunning setting surrounded by spectacular mountain peaks.
The five-kilometre cross-country ski trail starts at the Manège in Leysin, around 220 m from the Leysin, télécabine Berneuse stop. Right at the beginning, the circuit climbs to its highest point at around 1,270 m. It passes close to La Riondaz without reaching the summit. The trail then skirts the edge of Leysin before heading out into open countryside.
The trail sweeps across meadows and pastures in a wide arc. After the initial climb, it descends gradually, reaching its lowest point after around three kilometres. From there, the circuit climbs gently again and passes the houses of Crettaz. The final section leads back to Leysin and the Manège, where the loop closes after about five kilometres and just under an hour and a half. The route involves around 110 metres of ascent in total.

Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
Cross-country skiing is more fun in the snow! Check local conditions before heading out.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
