01/ Overview
The route
The Cergnement cross-country skiing trail is situated in an unspoilt valley at the foot of the Argentine mountain, in a delightful idyllic setting. Far from the stresses of urban life, it’s just a few minutes away from the village of La Barboleuse.
The short trail begins at the Gryon, Cergnement stop and follows a loop across the open terrain of Cergnement. From the very first metres, the landscape remains open and clearly visible. With no lengthy climb, the route rises gently towards La Motte.
After just under a kilometre, the loop reaches its highest point near La Motte at around 1'280 m. In total, there are only about 40 metres of ascent over the two kilometres; short undulations therefore set the rhythm before the trail begins to descend again.
Towards the end, the loop leads back across the meadows to Gryon, Cergnement. After around half an hour, it returns to the starting point. The stop is just under 100 m away, while the Parking de Cergnement is also located immediately beside the start and finish.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
Cross-country skiing is more fun in the snow! Check local conditions before heading out.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
