01/ Overview
The route
This moderately difficult trail takes you through forests and pastures, in the heart of the Plateau des Granges and the protected area of the Mouille de La Vraconnaz. Starts and ends at the Hôtel-restaurant de La Grand’Borne.
The cross-country ski trail starts at La Grande Borne, by the L’Auberson, La Grand’Borne bus stop. The first few kilometres alternate between broad meadows and stretches of forest, with gentle ascents and descents through the surroundings of Mont de la Chèvre, which lies in the forest a little way off the circuit. After just over an hour, the trail reaches the houses of La Vraconnaz.
The circuit then heads back into open terrain and climbs gradually to its highest point at around 1,150 m near Mauvais Crêt. The eleven-kilometre route involves a total ascent of around 200 metres. The return leg begins at Chalet des Prés, initially across open ground and later once again through forest. Nearby, Crêt de Haute Joux remains off the trail. After just under three hours, the circuit ends back at La Grande Borne, a few steps from the bus stop.

Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
Cross-country skiing is more fun in the snow! Check local conditions before heading out.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
