01/ Overview
The route
This trail from Mauborget to the parade ground in Les Rochats is a great way to recharge your batteries as you ski across snow-covered pastures reminiscent of the Great North. In this completely unspoilt natural setting, it’s not unusual to come across deer along the way.
From the Mauborget, bif. La Magnenaz bus stop, it is only a few steps to the start of the roughly 17-kilometre cross-country ski trail. It initially crosses open pastureland and reaches La Combaz after around four kilometres. Broad meadows and woodland then alternate as the route gradually descends to its lowest point at just over 1'100 m.
In the second half, the trail climbs again and leads to the Restaurant La Ronde Noire. Shortly afterwards, the highest point of the circuit is reached at around 1'300 m. From here, the route continues over gently undulating open terrain and through further stretches of woodland back towards Mauborget. After around four and a half hours and approximately 300 metres of ascent in total, the circuit closes back at its starting point in Mauborget.
