01/ Overview
The route
The people of this region have cross-country skiing in their blood. They are used to extreme cold and in times gone by, children would ski to school. No wonder this valley is still a breeding ground for champions.
The start of the roughly 35-kilometre cross-country ski trail is just a few steps from the «La Brévine, poste» bus stop. It initially leads out of the village into the open Jura landscape, passing close to Lac des Taillères and continuing through Les Taillères. At Chez Bichon, the route passes an inn before reaching Bémont.
Wide meadows then alternate with longer stretches of forest. The trail sweeps in a broad arc towards Grotte Vers Chez le Brandt and continues to Les Grands-Cernets. At Les Petits-Cernets, Restaurant Les Cernets stands directly beside the route. From here, the steady succession of ascents and descents continues through the sparsely populated Jura landscape.
The trail climbs once more via Le Cernil. Near Haut de la Vy, it reaches its highest point at around 1,240 m. This is followed by the long return through forest and open countryside. After just over nine hours, the circuit ends back in La Brévine, a few steps from the post bus stop.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
Cross-country skiing is more fun in the snow! Check local conditions before heading out.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
