01/ Overview
The route
As a reward for the effort you have already made, the Mont Racine Trail offers a magnificent panoramic view over the Alps – but only after the seventh kilometre. In good conditions, you will have the impression you are skiing in paradise.
The roughly 20-kilometre circular trail starts at the Vue-des-Alpes stop and crosses the heights of the Neuchâtel Jura. Right at the beginning, it passes the Buvette du Téléski du Crêt-Meuron before alternating between open pastures and woodland. Gentle ascents and descents lead to the Col des Neigeux.
Beyond the pass, the trail continues to climb. After just under eight kilometres, it reaches its highest point at around 1,390 m, not far from Mont Racine. Its 1,439-metre summit lies off the route. A longer descent then follows to around 1,250 m, with the trail once again passing through woodland and emerging onto the open Jura heights.
In the second half, the undulating profile brings further counter-climbs. The trail sweeps in a wide arc close to the TĂŞte de Ran without reaching the summit, then turns back towards the starting point. After just over five and a half hours and a total ascent of around 480 metres, the circuit closes at La Vue des Alpes, near the Vue-des-Alpes stop.
