01/ Overview
The route
Wonderful itinerary on the Severiano Ballesteros Course, a legendary 18-hole course which hosts the renowned Omega European Masters every year. This tough and varied 6km route offers exceptional surroundings and a stunning view of the Valais Alps.
From the Crans-Montana, Sporting stop, it is only a few minutes to the start of the six-kilometre circular trail. Its highest point, at around 1,470 m, comes right at the beginning. The route then leaves the built-up area behind and crosses the open expanses of the high plateau.
Gently rising and falling, the trail initially heads towards the area around Lac d'Icogne. The reservoir lies slightly off the circuit, with its earthfill dam at the western end of the plateau. The trail then gradually loses elevation in broad loops across open terrain.
In the final third, near its lowest point, it reaches Etang-Long and passes almost directly along its shore. From here, the trail climbs gently again. It crosses open ground back to the houses of Crans-Montana and the starting point; the Sporting stop is once again only a few minutes away.

Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
Cross-country skiing is more fun in the snow! Check local conditions before heading out.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
