01/ Overview
The route
The cross-country ski trail between Marchairuz and Mollendruz is a classic in the region. This elevated route heads across the magnificent combs of the Jura to the foot of Mont-Tendre, past various mountain pasture chalets.
From the Le Brassus, Combe des Amburnex stop, it is around 200 m to the start at Col du Marchairuz. The trail runs across the open heights of the Vaud Jura, with climbs totalling around 300 metres of elevation gain. After just under seven kilometres, it reaches its highest point at around 1,510 m. Mont Tendre lies just over half a kilometre off the route; at 1,679 m, it is the highest summit in the Swiss Jura.
From there, the route descends increasingly. In long, rolling stretches, it crosses broad pastures towards Pré de l'Haut and close to Chalet du Mollendruz. After 15 kilometres and four hours, the trail ends at Col du Mollendruz at around 1,180 m. The Mollendruz, col stop is close to the finish.

What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
Cross-country skiing is more fun in the snow! Check local conditions before heading out.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
